Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) is one of the most important conversion processes used in petroleum refineries. It is widely used to convert high-boiling point, high-molecular weight hydrocarbon fractions of crude oils into more valuable products such as gasoline, propane, and butane fuels.
Slurry oil is a heavy aromatic by-product of FCC. Separation and removal of catalyst fines from this slurry oil increases its use options and value. One method of removing FCC catalyst fines is through utilization of in-line electrostatic separation equipment.
Bekeson Glass is the OEM of the unique glass beads used worldwide in such equipment for removal of catalyst fines.
Hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking, is a well stimulation method involving the fracturing of underground rock formations by a pressurized liquid. The process involves the injection of “fracking fluid” (usually water containing sand or other proppants) at high-pressure to create cracks in the rock formations through which natural gas and petroleum will flow more freely. When the hydraulic pressure is removed, small grains of proppants hold the fractures open.
Bekeson Glass manufactures custom formulated, high-strength glass beads used to enhance proppant performance.

environmental
Currently it is estimated that more than 250,000 metric tons of radioactive waste resides in storage worldwide, with over 90,000 metric tons in the U.S. alone. These wastes can remain dangerously radioactive for thousands of years.
Bekeson Glass provides powdered and fritted glass compositions in support of nuclear waste vitrification. Vitrification is a proven and reliable technology used at U.S. and foreign nuclear waste processing facilities. The vitrification process converts radioactive and chemical waste into a solid, stable glass, mitigating environmental risks.
Industrial
Industrial use of specialty glass is widespread in laboratories, electronics, and various manufacturing applications. Some uses include:
Bekeson Glass can produce a wide range of custom glass compositions for your specific application and required form. Forms include spheres, frits, powders, and flake.
